Monster Energy DRT Kawasaki rider Max Anstie has enjoyed a rich run of form recently, taking a double World Motocross MX2 win at the GP of Latvia whilst also leading the British MX series.
In a packed schedule of domestic and International action, the 22 year old rider has shown himself to be one of Britain’s brightest young biking stars, following in the wheeltracks of riders such as father Mervyn, a well-known 500cc racer.
Anstie thrilled his home fans with a podium at the British GP at Matterley Basin, an event made even more intense by its proximity to his home town of Winchester, plus the fact that the event was run by his DRT team owner Steve Dixon!
Powering his Kawasaki KX250F machine to a win in Germany, he then hit gold with a stunning double victory in Latvia, moving him up to seventh in the series but within striking distance of third.
In the closely fought British MX2 Championship Anstie now leads the series with the iconic Foxhill event running this weekend.
Max commented, “It has certainly been a packed schedule recently, we’re nine weeks into a twelve weekend run. It’s a case of travel home, unpack, do a bit of washing, quick training session, repack, then get back on the road or plane!
That double win in Latvia felt great, there wasn’t one big change we made, its just like all the pieces of set-up and my riding came together out there on the track. I think we’ve found a bit of consistency which we were maybe lacking but it feels good at the moment.
I’m lucky as I live near the race workshops and we have a private track I use near Andover, sometimes other riders invite you to their tracks or vice versa, it keeps it fresh. If we need some sand practice we just drive over to Belgium, it’s perfect for it there and not as far as people think.
This weekend we have Foxhills with its fast sweeping hills and then the next week its Loket in Czecho, quite a different sort of track, real hard pack, tight up and down. But I approach both the same, try and get some good pace in practice, get out the gate first and the rest will come!”
